Brunch at Punch: Mr Punch Public House (Food Review)

May 06, 2017

Brunch at Punch

Mr Punch Public House is a unique restaurant known for the retro gastropub, rooftop bar, and MINT Museum of Toys atop it. Situated comfortably near City Hall and Bugis MRT, Mr Punch Public House is a hit with tourists looking to enjoy the best of Singapore's nightlife, and Singaporeans looking for something fun to do during the weekends. Their new brunch menu, aptly named Brunch at Punch, features a range of popular breakfast food.

Replicas of vintage toys for sale

Inline with the vintage theme, Mr Punch Public House's name came from British puppet show set in 1660s, Punch and Judy. Visitors and patrons can stop by the first floor to purchase replicas of vintage toys found at MINT Museum of Toys.

I was invited to try the newest addition to Mr Punch Public House's menu — Brunch at Punch, available every weekend from 11am to 6pm.

Seaside Omelette

Seaside Omelette — Lobster, Eggs and Toast ($28) was a hot favourite among the bloggers. The lightly seasoned Boston lobster went surprisingly well with the otherwise-boring scrambled eggs.

Lobster, Eggs and Toast

The gruyere cheese and toasted brioche (a French bread rich with butter and eggs) are perfect for people who need crabs to complete a meal.

The Sinful — The Devil's French Toast

If you have sweet tooth and love Nutella (seriously, who doesn't?!), order a dish of The Sinful — The Devil's French Toast ($14). While most never think of ice cream as a brunch menu item, The Sinful is the best way to end off your brunch on a sweet note — quite literally.

Chocolate sauce drizzled all over the vanilla ice cream resting on bioche that was slapped with Nutella and peanut butter, this brunch item gives all sweet tooth a run for your money. Not forgetting the rice krispies banana balls that gives this brunch item an interesting texture.

Judy's Plate — A Continental Choice

A healthier alternative, Judy's Plate — A Continental Choice ($18). Nothing screams brunch like a couple of crispy, freshly made Danish croissants! The butter and chocolate croissants came with toppings to choose from, or you can eat them on their own.

Mr Punch Public House provided a generous serving of homemade granola to be paired with honey and vanilla yoghurt. Together with a fresh fruit bowl that allows you to forget all about your sinful brunch. Just don't look down at your ever-growing belly (#worthit though).

Mr Punch Public House is also running a special promotion. Purchase any brunch item, and you'll get a ticket to MINT Museum of Toys, Asia's largest collections of vintage toys. While stocks last!
