There was once a girl

who opened her heart up

to anyone who said

they would never hurt her.

She spilled her mind

but they put her down.

The people she thought were kind 

let her drown.

They let her drown in all their jokes

about a girl who was not good enough.

Not once did they realise

that what they said was a little rough.

So when they found her crying

they couldn't understand

that the girl they knew was dying

from self hate.
