Sunnystep Ergonomic Sneakers Review: Balance Runner
December 28, 2022This year is definitely the year of revenge travelling for many Singaporeans, me included. One thing that bothered me the most through my trips this year was the lack of a good walking shoe. My feet are extremely sensitive and blisters easily, which is a pain (pun intended), especially when I'm overseas and cannot easily change my choice of shoes. But I think I might have finally found the solution!!
Sunnystep, a Singaporean company that specialises in comfortable walking shoes, sent me a pair of their signature Balance Runner and they're truly the softest shoes I've ever worn!
With more than ten colours available at Sunnystep, I was truly spoilt for choice but eventually went for blush. I love how clean the sneakers look! You won't even notice the shoelace eyelets because the sneakers are designed to look minimalist and modern.
You can also probably see from the above picture how soft and flexible the sneakers are, allowing them to adapt to every user's unique feet. Not only that, the shoes are water-resistant — perfect for Singapore's bipolar weather.
A closer look inside my Sunnystep sneakers, which has stable arch support with lasting support (they don't sink with more wears). The tiny dots you see near the front of Sunnystep's sneakers are acupressure massage points that helps alleviate muscle strain.
If you're wondering why Sunnystep is so committed to creating shoes that maximise comfort while walking or standing, it's because Sunnystep was founded after their founder Ting sustaining a traumatic postpartum spine injury, preventing her from wearing shoes available in the market at that time.
As a result, Sunnystep was born!
As a testament to Sunnystep's popularity, Sunnystep's physical stores are always full every time I passed by. I mean, Sunnstep marries innovative insole technology to minimises stress with a modern versatile look and beautiful colours. What's there to not like about it?
Once, while I walked past the Bugis store, I heard someone exclaiming, "This shop sells the most comfortable shoes ever!" #truestory and I can't argue with that.
Just a note that you should head down to the physical stores to try on the shoes before committing to a pair — I usually wear EU36 but found EU37 to be more comfortable this time. Their friendly sales assistants are always happy to help you find your perfect pair of sneakers :)
Remember my problem with sneakers? Sunnystep prevents blistering by providing extra velvet cushioning at the heels. True enough, I haven't gotten any blisters at all, although I experienced abrasion on the first few days — but that's because my skin is extremelyyyyyy sensitive. Plus, the abrasion didn't bother me too much, considering I was still able to walk more than 10km.
I haven't had the chance to bring my sneakers overseas but I'm excited to do so!
